John Pedersen, one of the local masters of the old-time fiddle and banjo tradition, will be offering a 6-session workshop in San Anselmo for acoustic instrumentalists who wish to learn old time music and techniques.

Drawing on the traditions of New England, the Ontario region and the Southeastern Appalachians, John will cover a variety of tunes and share some of his "down-home" philosophy about technique and style. Students will learn how to give a tune the lift and life that makes people want to dance.

Our two rounds of this class had us all stomping our feet and making our instruments "ring" to the these fantastic tunes. Come join us for more!

Students are expected to already be comfortable on their instruments in another genre (classical, bluegrass, Irish Traditional, blues and even a year or two of old-time). The class will be "ear taught" so students should plan to bring a recording device.

Cost for the class is $150 for 6 sessions ($30 per class drop-in).
